With 12 years experience in entertaining many different groups from schools, through to the corporate functions and night entertainment at Woodlyn Park in Waitomo, Barry Woods aka Billy Black has now designed a travelling show especially for the corporate market. Ideally it can be used as an inspirational and entertaining opening of a conference or altered slightly to be full on entertainment in the evening of a function.

From travelling the world as a professional sheep shearer to creating the World's most unusual motel complex. Billy Black and his extra inch is a hilarious and inspirational story. During this tough but exciting career he was involved in a world record 20 years ago, which still stands today. He has developed New Zealand's only U-Drive Jet Boat Course and created New Zealand's first Kiwi Culture Show and one of the most Unique Motel Complexes in the World all on a 10 acre piece of land just 900 meters from the famous Waitomo Caves.

An hour of pure entertainment as our Kiwi Culture is brought to the stage using the audience in everything from log sawing, a live log explosion, shearing a sheep the pioneer way, a real test for the participants. The sheep is then hypnotized by Billy Black, a truly amazing experience that completes the "Extra Inch Story"

This show has been enjoyed by a wide range of audiences over the last 5 years, ... as diverse as Real Estate Companies, the Fonterra company to the Medical Association of New Zealand, all left with amazing memories of this very unique act.

An amazing journey for one man, Billy Black has endured working in minus 20 degrees temperature of the Wild West in Wyoming USA and being involved in a world record 20 years ago which still stands today. Billy has actually designed and built himself the worlds first Hobbit Motel and then dismantled and transported a large Bristol Freighter Aeroplane across New Zealand, to be made into one of the first Aeroplane Motels, (New Zealands 1st Inland mile high club). Looking for an ever bigger challenge Billy Black then purchased a WWII Patrol Boat (the ex Wahiheke Island ferry the Motunui) stripping it and transporting this 31 metre, 60 ton boat across country to Waitomo to convert into ship motel rooms, no mean feat. This complex has now been voted into the top 10 of the Worlds most Unusual Motels in the World by both the Lonely Planet and M.S.M.B.C in the USA.

Along the way in this amazing journey Billy Black has very cleverly captured world media attention with stories in the London star times, Japanese and European papers and magazines around the world, as well as many Television stories from the disappearing of Don rash his famous dancing pig, to capturing the North Island Shrek sheep to Don Rash riding in a motorbike side car. These and many other stories make up several million dollars of advertising, which hasn't cost Billy much else than his own time, so yes - there is only one story like this in the world, brought to you with real kiwi humour and some amazing pictures in a 45-minute power point presentation, and (Yes the extra inch is seen on stage.)

Billy provided the opening performance at our recent annual conference held at the Novotel Hotel in Rotorua; the 11'th such conference I have organized.

I engaged Billy largely on the recommendation of an Otorohonga taxi operator and I have to admit I did so with some trepidation as I couldn't find any publicity material or video promos of Billy's show to give me a "feel" of what to expect.

I need not have worried for one second, as all of our 160 delegates were blown away with Billy's inspirational life story that unfolded during a riveting one hour performance, delivered in a typical understated "kiwi bloke" style.

Billy's story from farm boy, to many years shearing around the world, to achieving his life long ambition of owning his own farm, to creating one of the worlds most unusual motels and tourist attractions in the world is a story about incredible determination, unwavering self belief and a lesson for us all on the rewards of following your dreams.

Billy is not one of the all too common flashy type speakers that you often see at conferences and events these days; in fact in many ways he is the direct antithesis with his relaxed easy going delivery that builds and builds via the inspirational content of his story and the almost insurmountable obstacles he overcame in realizing his dreams.
